I must say, with this being Healeys debut novel she did a wonderful job.

Guardian of the dead is set in New Zealand where the culture is rich and danger is always steps away.

I really got lost in the world Healey created. She talks of Fairies and Mythological worlds. Battles from centuries ago have been brought to this day and age and mixed in with the life of a typical teenage world.

I really love Ellie. She is not your typical main character. She is smart, sassy and really has low self esteem which oddly enough makes her very likable. She sees her self as a "chubby" girl who is unlikeable by her peers. i think that thought the book she learns to love her self more. Ellie loves all things mythological so when she is unwillingly thrown into the Maori world she really taken back. Who would have thought it was all real, certainly not Ellie.

The Guardian of the dead was a fast pace book that had me laughing at its dark humor, learning about the New Zealand Culture and hoping for a sequel. There was almost two different types of stories rolled into one. First you have the struggles of a teenage girl trying to find her self and make the best of her life, dealing with best friend Kevin and all his problems, her crush on dark and mysterious Mark and trying to help the drama club with a girl she can't stand. Then you have the Maori world, filled with ascent fairies and a battle with their immortality. I really loved the way Ellie had to deal with so much and she still kept her head. she was really a strong character.

The Maori mythology was a little tough to keep up with at times. Some of the names and stories were very long and somewhat hard to understand. Only when I finished the book did I come top realize there was a section in the back for definitions, so check that before you read...It will help.

Overall Healeys Guardian of the Dead was a great read that I finished in two sittings. It left me wanting more. I was fascinated with the myths and culture of New Zealand. I say, Read this book and you will love it too. Guardian of the Dead rates around a 4+ Hoot from me! Great read!

I picked up this book on one of my many book store exertions and really didn't know much about it. Needless to say I was glad I did. Ruined is a fantastic book filled with Ghosts, murder, and a deep dark secret that will change Rebecca's life forever.

I really love the way that this book was set in New Orleans, And it touches Base with some of the real life problems that they are having. It also goes into the history and some of the legions that have been sounding the city for centuries.

Rebecca is a normal girl that has been moved from her home and forced to live with an Aunt she doesn't know it New Orleans. Pretty quickly she comes to realize that everyone thinks she is an outsider and they look down on her for it. Rebecca is left to face this new lifestyle on her own, until she gets lost in Lafayette cemetery and runs in to Lasette.... Who just so happens to be a ghost. Rebecca comes to befriend Lasette and is pulled in to her world, life changing secrets and all.

I really like Rebecca, she is a quiet but strong girl and really doesn't care that people in her new school don't like her. She really just wants the time to go by fast so she can go home. She comes to find out that making it home is going to be harder then she thinks. She is a great character with strong opinions and a strong heart.

Overall Ruined has many twists and turns, and it kept me guessing till the very end. I really don't have any poor things to say about the book except for the fact it may not have a sequel...I would really love more. I give Ruined 4+ Hoots, This is a great book and I recommend it to all who love a little mystery.

I absolutely love the Twilight Saga, so when I heard Stephenie Meyer had decided to write it I was thrilled. I really never gave much thought to Bree Tanner or the newborns, so naturally I was surprised this was the direction she went in. Going into a book when you already know the ending is a bit different and I wondered if it would keep me interested like a regular book would.

Boy was I wrong. I enjoyed this book very much, I really love the way I found out new things that influenced the series and the mindset of the newborns. There life as a newborn was so hostile and confusing I really felt bad for them. Bree was a great character, I really wish she had got the opportunity to live. She was such a strong and smart girl who tried to keep to her self for her own safety. She saw things and was able to see things different from others.

 When Bree meets Diego she is very wiry of him, she doesn't really know how to react. As the story progresses they try to uncover the secrets of their existence and discover the lies they have been told.

I really lived this book and the way it gave some in site to a few unknown questions I had. I recommend this to all the Twilight fans...It's a great addition to the series. Naturally as a huge Twilight and Stephenie Meyer fan this book is high up on my "Great Book's" list. So it gets a 5 Hoots from me!
